Bally Ark FCA CTA

Managing Director

Bally graduated with a degree in Money, Banking and Finance from Birmingham University in 1990. Having taken a year off travelling, Bally joined BDO Binder Hamlyn in 1991. Here he worked on various accounts preparation and audit assignments for small to medium sized owner managed businesses. Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1994 Bally moved to Arthur Andersen and it was here that Bally matured into an all round business advisor.

During his first four years at Arthur Andersen, as well as being involved in the mid-market penetration group, Bally worked on the audits of some of the largest international companies in the world. He also worked on a number of large corporate finance projects, take-overs, due diligence assignments, business plans and providing advice to directors at Board level. During this period Bally was also a visiting lecturer at Warwick University lecturing final year students on auditing and ethics.

Bally qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1998 and joined the Tax Investigations Practice within Arthur Andersen. Working alongside a team of senior ex-HMRC officers, Bally worked on a large number of cases defending clients against serious enquiries instigated by the prosecution arm of HMRC under Hansard or Code 9. Bally also lectured extensively throughout the UK to Accountants, Lawyers, Bankers and other professionals on dealing with Tax Enquiries by HMRC and Special Compliance Office.

Bally left Arthur Andersen in 2000 and took up a number of different roles including Tax Director at a listed Business Services Company, Finance Director of a £100m Turnover privately owned company, Director of an IT training company and Director of his own consultancy practice specialising in Tax Investigations and Corporate Finance.

Bally then consolidated his position when he established Ark Aurora in February 2003. As a firm of Chartered Accountants, Chartered Tax Advisers and Registered Auditors, clients of Ark Aurora enjoy the benefits of his "Big 4" expertise, his specialist skills as well as his own experiences of running businesses.

Gurnek Ark FCA

Director

Having graduated at Birmingham University in 1987, with a degree in Accounting and Finance, Gurnek joined KPMG. A wide variety of work was undertaken from senior auditor through to assisting on fraud and management buy-out cases.

Gurnek qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1991 at which point he moved on to work with a client of KPMG as financial controller.

After 3 years in this role Gurnek was headhunted by a company in Warwick. In his role as Senior Accountant Gurnek was responsible for all aspects of managing and controlling the business.

Gurnek then went on to work for a major shipping line and was responsible for shipping agents all around the world. This involved much travel around the world assisting new agents in setting up their accounting, financial and reporting systems.

In 1999, Gurnek moved back into the profession working in general practice with small to medium sized owner managed businesses on accounts preparation, audits, tax compliance and managing tax investigations.

In 2003, Gurnek joined Ark Aurora and is responsible for all aspects of accounting and reporting.

Suchy Lidhar

Suchy graduated with a degree in Law from Birmingham University in 1994 and then went onto complete his Diploma in Legal Practice in 1996 after a year travelling in the US.

Suchy trained and worked in the Private Client Team at Grant Thornton where he qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor before working for EY in London.

Suchy then worked as a Director of Tax at a regional practice in Staffordshire for 6 years before working in the healthcare team at BDO.

Suchy has over 20 years of experience in the industry with the majority of that time working within the top 5 practices. 

He has recently accomplished the Certificate in Probate and Estate Administration. 

Suchy specialises in working with members of the healthcare industry and owner managed businesses. A keen and committed problem solver, Suchy works collaboratively with businesses, advising on both corporate and individual tax planning. Suchy enjoys building positive relationships with clients to make a genuine difference to them and their business.
